Thinking Out of the Box: Ideate Under the Guidance Of IIMB Alumni: Stages and Timelines
Round 1
A short quiz to help us assess you as a team. This will be an elimination round. You will be judged on the number of correct answers and the time taken to complete the quiz. Access the questions on D2C under Round 1 detail. Top 8 teams will qualify for the next round. Round 1 result is tentatively scheduled to be released on 3rd August 2021.
Round 2
In this exercise, your team will be randomly allocated a household object. You need to ideate an unconventional use of the product and pitch it to the judges. As the manager of this new product, you have to come up with a strategy to sell this new product. You can pick any industry and customer segment. The strategy should showcase your thought process around identifying the customer problem, value generate for the customer, and competitive edge of your product. IIMB alums will mentor you throughout this process. Finally, you’ll pitch your product and strategy to a panel of IIMB alums. Further details will be shared with selected teams separately.

About the Opportunity:
IIM Bangalore’s International Business Summit Vista 2021, in association with the Student Alumni Committee, presents “Thinking out of the Box.” Being at home has led us to discover the mini-universe of objects that exists right in front of us. Think a bottle can only store water? What else, you wonder, can the mop do? Why should a plate only be used for eating? Do you also have the “plastic bag of plastic bags”? What does a bucket have on its bucket list?
Here’s your chance to think out of the box and challenge yourselves to come up with innovative and unconventional uses of household objects, and get mentored by esteemed IIM alumni to build a strategy for your innovation. Channel your creativity, get inventive, and unleash the capabilities of the pen holder that is currently destined to only hold pens.
Rules and Regulations:
- This is a team event, with each team consisting of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 participants, all of whom must be enrolled in a graduate or a post-graduate program at the time of the submission.
- Each team must have a team leader.
- The decisions of the organizers will be final and binding on all participants.
- All decisions in matters of eligibility, authenticity, and final judgments will be with the organizing committee of Vista, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
- The format and structure of events online could be subject to change before the actual beginning of the event.
