Code to Care Challenge: Stages and Timelines
First Preliminary Round - Task 1 - MCQs
All registered teams need to take the MCQ, anytime during the window of 48 hours, in one sitting. The MCQ test will comprise of 20 questions which must be completed in a time limit of 30 minutes.
All registered teams need to work on 2 coding challenges in 2 hours during the window of 48 hours, in one sitting.
First Preliminary Round - Result
The shortlisted teams selected to move to Second Preliminary Round.
Second Preliminary Round - Task 1 - Selection of the Problem Statement
The shortlisted teams need to select a problem statement out of the three given and inform about the same.
Second Preliminary Round - Task 2 - Submission of the Prototype
Teams need to submit three things: PPT, explaining the idea and the solution; 1-minute video, demonstrating the prototype; and the source code.
Grand Finale
The top 10 teams will be called to the Philips Innovation Campus, Bangalore, to compete for the title.
All that you need to know about Code to Care Challenge
Code to Care Challenge is a hackathon from Philips, aimed at generating ideas and solutions that ensure better health outcomes, improve patient experience and enhance healthcare staff satisfaction. Philips has always invested in the workforce of the future. With this hackathon, they aim to bring the best minds in India together, on a single platform, and give the next generation ideas a chance to step forward.
Philips software developers don’t just work on code. They also work by an innate code of caring about and making life better for others. The code they develop doesn’t just result in the next gimmicky tech gadget. It exponentially elevates the level of care for everyone, from healthcare patients to kids learning how to brush their teeth.
Spanning across three stages, the competition requires students to build a prototype of the Idea/solution on any of the three given problems in domains of AI, Smart Devices and Healthcare Services. The best 10 teams will visit the Philips Innovation Campus in Bengaluru for the grand finale.
Eligibility and Team Rules
- This competition is open to students pursuing B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech programs across select engineering colleges in India (Graduation year – 2nd to 4th year ( B.Tech), 1st & 2nd year (M.Tech))
- Students must register in teams of 2-4 members
- The participating students can be from any specialization
- They should be full-time students from the same engineering college
- One person cannot be a member of more than one team
- Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team
- Students should have 65% (6.5 CGPA) and above marks (overall) till their current semester to qualify for the Hackathon
- We recommend participants to go through the Terms & Conditions document provided under the Attachments section.
Competition Structure
It's a three-tier challenge. Participants need to complete the first two stages and all the tasks under these stages to qualify and enter the Final Stage of the challenge.
First Preliminary Round: MCQs and Online Coding Challenge
- All registered teams will have to take an online multiple choice quiz lasting for 30 minutes with 20 questions
- All registered teams will also have to code their way through two problem statements within 2 hours
- Both these tasks need to be completed within a window of 48 hours from 18th August, 00:01 hours to 19th August, 23:59 hours
- Each task needs to be completed in one sitting i.e. as soon as you start either of them, you'll have to finish that task before the time runs out. You can relax and take a time gap between these two tasks
- Results for this round will be declared on 20th August, 8 PM
- Participating teams will move on to the next level based on their performance across both the tasks in this round
Second Preliminary Round: Idea Generation & Building a Prototype
- Shortlisted teams from the previous round will have to build the prototype of an Idea on any of the three given problem statements.
- Task 1 is to inform which problem statement will the team be working on. Just one question. This needs to be completed by 25th August, 23:59 hours
- Task 2 is to actually work on the idea and submit a working prototype for the same
- Deliverables for Task 2 will be
- 7-slider Presentation in .ppt or .pptx format detailing the idea
- 1-minute video demonstrating the working prototype
- Source code of the prototype and any other relevant documentation in one zip file which should not exceed 15 MB in size
- Presentation Format:
- Slide 1: Theme chosen, problem statement, proposed solution in brief, team details
- There is no format for other slides. You can use your creativity to make the best presentation.
- Evaluation criteria:
- Creativity and Novelty of the Idea (against what exists)
- Use in real life
- Complexity of problem being solved
- Proto/solution completeness
- Top 10 teams will move on to the final round based on the quality of submission and the idea
Grand Finale:
- In the final round of Code to Care Challenge, top 10 finalists will be invited to the Philips Innovation Campus, Bangalore, for the last round of evaluation in front of the leaders
- Teams need to make a presentation of the idea and the prototype
- Teams will be given 8 minutes to present followed by 7 minutes of Q&A. In total, a team will have 15 minutes
- Source code of all the top scorers that move to the Finale will be evaluated for authenticity. This is done towards the end for the Finale to ensure that only the best moves forward
- All decisions in the matter of eligibility, authenticity & final judgement will be with Dare2Compete and Philips
