Case Study Submissions

The case study will be launched on 1st November. Teams are required to prepare a solution and submit a 6-slide presentation (in .ppt/.pptx format). The last date for submissions is 13 November.

Campus and Wild Card Rounds

5 teams will be shortlisted per college from the 5 main campuses. These teams will present their case-study presentation to a panel of esteemed jury as part of the Campus Round. Top teams from Wild Card campuses will present their submissions virtually.

GSK Pharmaceuticals Limited brings to you a unique strategy competition that tests your expertise and out-of-the-box thinking to connect with the target audience and grow the market.

GSK E^3 (Engaging and Exciting minds for Excellence) is a multi-level challenge, where you get an opportunity to work on a real-world business problem, meet business partners and senior professionals, and get a chance to earn yourself a pre-placement offer (PPI)*, along with attractive cash prizes.

Eligibility Criteria:

This competition is open to both 1st and 2nd year of the flagship programs of the following management institutes:

  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad
  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore
  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta
  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow
  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode
  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore
  • Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur
  • Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi
  • Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon
  • S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai
  • National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai
  • Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai
  • Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai

5 campuses (IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, IIM Lucknow, SIBM Pune, and MDI Gurgaon) will have campus rounds. All other campuses will fall under the category of Wild Card Entry, and teams from these campuses will present their submissions virtually, instead of a campus round.

Team Formation Guidelines:

  • Students can register in teams of three.
  • The participants can be from any specialization.
  • They should be full-time students from the campus.
  • Cross-specialization teams can participate. 
  • Cross-year teams are not allowed.
  • One participant cannot be a member of more than one team.
  • There is no restriction on the number of teams from an Institute.
  • Any deviation from the above-mentioned guidelines will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.

Competition Structure:

  • Only registered teams can access the case study problem statement post 1st November'19.
  • Each team will be required to submit a 6-slide presentation (in .ppt/.pptx format).
  • The first slide should include all team details, while the other slides should contain the team's analysis/proposed solution to the problem statement.
  • If any additional files (such as MS-Excel sheets, etc.) are to be submitted, all files should be zipped together (as a .zip file) and then uploaded. References need to be mentioned and should be given due credit.
  • Naming Convention: TeamName_CampusName.
  • Teams need to upload this presentation/zip file latest by 12th November'19, 11:59 PM on the competition page itself.

Campus and Wildcard Rounds:

  • Based on the case-study submissions,  5 teams will be shortlisted from each college, as Campus Finalists from 5 Campuses - IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, SIBM Pune, and MDI Gurgaon. These teams will then present their submissions to a panel of esteemed jury. Campus Winners will be declared the same day.
  • Other campuses, under the category of Wild Card Entry, will have a virtual presentation round instead of a campus round.
  • The top 5 teams from the Campus and Wild Card Winners will be shortlisted for the National Finale. This selection will be based on the presentation during the campus/wild card round.

Mentorship Round:

  • Each shortlisted team will be assigned a mentor to refine their solutions. The teams will get approximately 1 week for the preparation and refinement of their solution during this stage.

National Finale:

  • The 5 National Finalists will get a chance to present their solutions to GSK's senior leadership team at GSK House, Mumbai. 
  • The national finale will be held in Mumbai on 24th Dec'19. Travel and stay for this round will be arranged by the company.
  • Further details of the national level round will be disclosed after all the campus rounds are complete.

  • Child Nutrition - GSK has built partnerships to implement an integrated approach to tackle child nutrition in Mumbai, Maharashtra in partnership with SNEHA to improve the nutritional status of married women at pre and post-conception and after delivery and of children aged 0-6 years in vulnerable communities in Mankhurd area of M/E ward, Mumbai. The project addresses healthcare from two sides - on the demand side, by attempting to create informed users of health services who will expect higher quality; and on the supply side, by working with public sector health providers (MCGM and ICDS) to improve the quality of health services.

  • School Sanitation - School is important for the cognitive, creative and social development of children. GSK has worked relentlessly to provide sanitation units, complete water and waste disposal systems, thereby providing access to clean sanitation to 10,000 students, teachers and staff from five schools in Nashik. They have expanded their work to additional schools and continue incorporating both the hardware and the behavioral change communication aspects to their work in addressing the sanitation challenge.
