Case Submissions

All teams are requested to submit case solutions briefly on a 3 slide pdf along with a video (up to 2 minutes only) of their team explaining the idea and upload the same on L'Oréal Brandstorm 2021 website.

Hackathon

On basis of the submissions, top teams will be shortlisted for the hackathon. The selected teams will get an opportunity to present their solutions to a panel and qualify for the national finals.

We are extremely pleased to bring to you to the 29th Edition of Brandstorm- our innovation and strategic real time global marketing case study competition -  L'Oréal Brandstorm 2021 (https://brandstorm.loreal.com/en/challenges/india)

Brandstorm was launched in the year 1993 in Paris and first played by India in 2006. The competition echoes the L’Oréal philosophy of innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence to make beauty universal whereby defining the future of marketing.

The program is supported through strong mentorship from senior management, brand managers and HR throughout the competition journey, which is divided into domestic and international rounds.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Students can register for the Competition online through this link: https://brandstorm.loreal.com/en/challenges/india
  • The competition is open only to first year students who fulfil the below criteria:
    1. Have a total Pre-MBA Professional Experience of less than 2 years (Internship experience not counted in this)
    2. Not selected for L’Oréal Internship Program- Batch 2021.
  • Students must register themselves individually on the platform first and then form teams of three.
  • The competition is open to all B Schools of India.
  • Students need to submit their ideas on https://brandstorm.loreal.com/en/challenges/india
  • The format for the submission is a 3 slider PDF along with a video (up to 2 minutes only) of your team explaining the idea.
  • Students who have already played the Competition in a previous year and reached the international finals cannot participate another time.
  • Students who did an internship in the department of the brand, division or relevant function concerned by the case study during the two (2) years preceding the Competition cannot participate in the current edition.

Team Formation Guidelines:

  • Students from same campus must register in a team of 3
  • Students are only allowed to register in one team
  • The participants can be from any specialization.
  • First year students across specialization can participate in teams.
  • One participant cannot be a member of more than one team.
  • Students in one team should belong to the same campus. Inter-campus teams are not allowed to participate.
  • There is no restriction on the number of teams from an Institute.
  • Students can submit their entries in a team of 3 on https://brandstorm.loreal.com/en/challenges/india?lang=en
  • Only entries submitted before the due date will be considered for evaluation. Any exception to this will be purely at the discretion of the management.
  • If the participant is found to have plagiarized any aspect of his/her entry, the participant will be disqualified.
  • The final eligibility of the participant will be subject to the discretion and approval of the management.
  • Any extensions in the deadlines will be at the sole discretion of the management.

Competition Structure

It is a 4-tier challenge. Below are the four rounds. Each team needs to register and successfully complete each round.

Round 1 - Case Submission: All teams are requested to represent case solutions briefly on a 3 slider PDF along with a video (up to 2 minutes only) of your team explaining the idea. Students need to submit their ideas on https://brandstorm.loreal.com/en/challenges/india. 

Round 2 - Hackathon: On basis of the submissions, top teams will be shortlisted for the hackathon. The selected teams will get an opportunity to present their solutions to a panel and qualify for the national finals. 

Round 3 - National Finals: Shortlisted teams from Hackathon will compete for National grand finale. Teams will be presenting their solutions to prominent leaders of L'Oréal. A national winning team will be selected.

Round 4 - Worldwide Finals: The National winners will be invited to join the Worldwide Finals at the end of June 2021. Given the current situation, the format of the final will be decided later and further notice through the platform and other L’ORÉAL official communication channel.

MEGA AWARD: Intrapreneurship Award at the World’s Largest Startup Campus, Station F, in Paris.

A global 3 months internship for the Winning Team in Paris: In order to get closer to the reality of Innovation at L’Oréal, students will work on one unique case that blends different aspects of Innovation - consumer intelligence, marketing, tech, and business.

The winning team will get to bring their idea to life during a 3 months’ internship in Paris at Station F.

JUDGING CRITERIA FOR BRANDSTORM PARTICIPANTS

At each step, the projects will be evaluated out of 100, based on the following criteria:

Please bear in mind the relevance of the project regarding the division and market’s needs, the team spirit and the general appearance of the presentation. In the case where there are several submissions with the same score, the priority will be given to the submission which scored highest in the innovative category.

The judging criteria will be the same regardless whether the presentation is held in person or online.

For the World Finals only, in addition to the four (4) criteria mentioned above, the jury members will be able to grant a “special like” to the projects of their choice
