All that you need to know about L'Oréal Sustainability Challenge 2020

Launching its fourth edition, Loreal is back with the Sustainability Challenge 2020. It is an all-Digital Challenge that resonates with L’Oréal’s sustainability program.

Over the past decade, we have profoundly transformed our company, putting sustainability at the very core of our business model. Recently, we launched our new sustainability program “L’Oréal for the future”, laying down the Group’s latest set of ambitions for 2030, wherein we will commit to addressing not only our direct environmental impact, but those of our consumers and stakeholders as well. In the context of growing environmental and social challenges, L’Oréal is accelerating its transformation towards a model respecting planetary boundaries and reinforcing its commitments to both sustainability and inclusion.

To achieve this, we want young and passionate change agents like you, to help us take this leap forward and raise the bar for sustainability, towards a more inclusive and sustainable society

Eligibility and Team Rules:

  • B-Schools: 2nd-year students of 2 year full-time MBA program from all the B-Schools can participate in this competition.
  • In addition, One-year MBA/Executive MBA program students from IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, IIM L, IIM K (Dec 2019 batch), XLRI and ISB only.
  • Engineering: Only 3rd and 4th-year students of B.Tech program of the select list of 10 engineering colleges, as mentioned below, can participate in this competition

  • A team must consist of exactly 3 members. 
  • A team can be cross specializations or year of study
  • All specializations can participate in the competition
  • A student cannot be a part of more than one team
  • Each team must be from the same campus
  • Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team
  • Modification of team post registration will not be allowed.

Competition Structure

It is a 3-tier challenge. Below are the three rounds. Each team needs to register and successfully complete each round.

Round 1: Preliminary round: Treasure hunt and brand story game – This is an elimination round. Each team will have to clear both the games to access the case study for the next round. Few teams will be shortlisted overall based on their cumulative score. There will be a limitation on the number of teams qualifying from one campus.

Round 2: Case study round: Each team will need to submit a 1-Slider Executive Summary. You cannot add appendix slides. Any references should be given due credits. There is no predefined format. You can use your creativity to make the best presentation. Naming Convention: InstituteName_TeamName. The case will be evaluated on the following parameters: Innovative, Useful, Feasible, Scalable and impact on consumer awareness, on consumer behavior change, and on plane. Please use the submission format shared while creating the executive summary.

Round 3: Finale - Presentation round - Based on the executive summary submissions, we will shortlist the top 10 teams. These teams will make a 10-slider detailed presentation on the case. The first slide should contain team details, the other nine slides are for analysis or deliverables to the problems. Any references should be given due credits. The appendix can be put beyond these 10 slides. No additional documents allowed as part of this submission. These 10 teams will present to the senior leadership team of Loreal at the grand finale.
